Introduction to George's Plan

My Simple Health Insurance Plan
By George Connolly

My plan, simply known as George's Plan, will address five key questions, as follows:

1. Why can we Americans afford to insure our automobiles, but cannot afford health insurance?

2. Why are there literally hundreds, if not thousands, of successful automobile insurance companies, but only a handful of health insurance companies?

3. Can we learn from the success of automobile insurance companies and apply it to health insurance?

4. Why do we insure our automobiles individually, but group our health insurance?

5. Why does automobile insurance work so well, and health insurance is failing?

Over the years, I have asked myself these questions countless times.

And in the process of doing that, I believe that I have found some unique solutions.

What I have to say will be of interest and value to many. We are all wrestling with this great issue of our day.

In analyzing this problem, I realized that how the automotive insurance business is run could be useful in helping the health insurance industry.

One of the significant differences I found is a vehicle has a set value that insurance companies will pay out. We humans do not.

But suppose we could figure out a way for health insurance companies to pay up to a set price for the care of each American. And suppose that if there were any additional costs over that set amount for a patient in any given year, those costs would be paid from a large, nationwide insurance pool of funds.

Furthermore, suppose that a new health insurance system was set up in such a way that it encouraged insurance companies to help their policyholders who became seriously or critically ill.

In fact, suppose that this new health insurance system was designed in such a way that it worked better by having many insurance companies -- not just a handful as there are now. Today, some states have just two major health insurance companies serving their citizens. Under my plan, that would not be the case.

And suppose that this unique new system that I am proposing with all of its many small health insurance companies was set up in such a manner that it encouraged them NOT to deny, avoid or circumvent health coverage for the most ill. Suppose my plan actually encouraged insurance companies, great and small, to gladly pay out the necessary money to heal the sickest. My plan makes this possible.

And there are more ways why George's Plan can be a win-win for everyone.

Suppose that this new health system worked in such a way that by insurance companies helping the most critically ill, it resulted in keeping down administrative costs.

Suppose you as a consumer would find that this new health insurance system allowed you to receive tax credits and gave you the possibility of winning millions of dollars.

My plan, call it George's Plan or My Simple Health Insurance Plan, addresses all of the statements I have just mentioned.

I have worked out many of the details that make it work like no other plan.

I invite you to read my complete plan. Feel free to dissect it, tear it apart, and -- in doing so -- you may ultimately embrace it. I'll leave that up to you.

After you register, you will have the opportunity to vote on my plan. By doing so, you as a consumer will speak out, one vote at a time. Your voice will be heard. Your one vote counts. I will make sure to inform everyone who cares about quality health care of your vote. There is power in the voting numbers. You will also get the chance to comment in writing for others to see on George's Blog.

So please, sign up now, so you can be counted.

Discover a health insurance plan which I developed that can work for everyone's benefit.

It's a win-win way to help health insurance survive in these United States.
